 My new SR5 81 project
« Thread Started on Apr 15, 2012, 3:14am »

Well i sold my 82 hardtop 2 months ago and picked up the very next day a 1981 liftback corolla SR5 with 74,000 original miles.

The engine was 100% stock and in great condition but it needed a new fuel pump and and a nice tune.

Interior and exterior needs some help so ill be documenting everything here.

Here is my project.

Looks like a good project but why did you get rid of the other one?

First thing is engine.

Power steering was leaking so i decided to eliminate it and save it in a box.
The AC and heater have also been deleted and put away in boxes,

OEM carb and manifold have been replaced with NEW Dual 45 webers and manifold.

Here how she came to me.

Here in the process of eliminating everything.

Here some nice parts, also got some new headers, exhaust and spark plug wires

All right here some bodywork and prep.

Gotta let you guys know that this is the very first time that I ever do bodywork and paint so I think I did a great job to be the first time.

To fill in all dings and major body defects I used Bondo glass, I researched a lot before I chose a product and this one seemed to be the best one.

Pics of body work.

Some custom work i did was License plate lights delete, rear wiper delete, rear key whole delete and filled in all holes for the corolla and toyota rear badges so you can say she has a nice stock rear ;D

Will post some pics of the car painted soon, just giving her some final details before I bring her out of the garage.

Cant cut and polish her yet cause im gonna wait till the paint cures completely, at least 2 weeks.
