So the guy i got the car from was, well lets just say not to smart. so he cut the top of the shifter off. No idea why. So i got a short shifter and this is how you do it on a 93-97 corolla
First you will need to take out the glove box, lower diver side panel and the hole senter consol.
After you will need to take out the pin and ring on the shifter housing to get the shaft out.
for the ring just get a small flat head and pop it off. Just make sure that you dont losse it.
on the bottom of the shaft there is a u shape clip that u have to take off to pop the sahft out. When you put it back on IT IS THE HARDEST PART OF THIS JOB. Belive me.
The one i got was a universal shifter so i had to mod it to fit.
make sure you lube it and put it all back together. Put a TRD shifter knob on and all done.
