I was able to remove the damaged part from the head. I hope that's all I have to replace and that I actually find a head to get it out off..lol The head looks relatively good

Well just adjusted the valves..first time doing it hope it came out alright. For some reason the smoking is less now..even more when I don't connect the PCV valve hose to the carb. The car still needs some work, like the head gasket maybe...thanks for the help and I will keep you all updated.

What causes the car to shake like a mofo when you are at a stoplight? If you put it in Neutral you barely feel it, but once you put it on drive on Drive it shakes bad, in reverse it does it a little bit but not as bad as drive. Thanks

it may be a vacuume leak. check the hoses. that head looks good. and you might need the have it redone but that means less downtime for your wifes car.

You mean have the head redone, like when I do the head gasket? I will check for leaks, thanks Gino

My wife has been noticing that the Nova starts shaking like a mofo when she stops at a red light or anywhere else for that matter. The car is automatic and has a carburetor. What would cause the car to shake like that?

That's a good idea....I also forgot to mention that when at a stop light the car feels like it wants to shut off as its shaking...very irregular low idle.
