lmao! we are all in the same boat.
Josh, take your time and don't rush it, once you take it to Billy and Jeff at the machine shop. That will be one big hurdle you don't have to worry about, the rest is just putting it all together.

I am stoked for this one!
I know this has been a controversy for a long time, how reliable is spinning a 7afe bottom end to 8500 with the silvertop head on it?

8500 is a breeze, but you will probably run out of steam by then if you are running stock valvetrain.

Standalone, thats how. lol. But 8500 is not even needed unless you have a complete valvetrain upgrade to allow that high a rpm, but a 7ag can be revved up that high with the proper parts installed

the biggest issue at that rpm is valve float correct? I thought factory redline was around 8200? supposedly the silvertop that I have has upgraded valvetrain, according to the guy kiyo bought it from, cuz he was spinning 8500 in his ae86 hatchi. at least that is what he told me. running megasquirt

But if you throw a standalone at the motor, yes you can pursay go past that, but it is not good for the motor that is stock.
