Hey guys, I've been runnin with my 4a-f engine for 7 years in my AE92, now that I have my AE101, I wanna know some info. on the 5af-e engine and what I can add or do without goin all out...It's my daily driver and I wanna beef it up more....I have my air intake and NGK Iridium plugs......Also, JDM stock headers that actually have given me power......Outside of Magnecor wires, can I add stuff that won't get too costly or be too much?....

You have a 1.5 in your corolla I was pretty sure that was japan only corollas ... I think you meant to say you have a 7afe which is a 1.8

Wait what??? You confused me lol ... What dicplament do you have? 1.8? Which if you have a 1.8 then it's a 7afe and not a 5afe like you posted

I was told from my friend I bought it from, that it's the 5af-e.....That's what lead me to inquire about the engine. Knowing it's the Japanese motor, what did it cross reference in America with?........Thus, the answer is clear....IT IS A 7afe........1.8 Instead of 1.6......Of course in Japan, the 5afe is A 1.5....But I knew it was more powerful than the 1.6......I asked what parts should I get and was told I could use the 4afe stock parts........

If you have a 1.8 Liter motor then you have to buy the 1.8 parts. Some parts should swap over, but yeah you have a 7afe there. Looks like you can do quite a bit to it....but if you are looking to stay low I recommend: exhaust, intake, good maintnance, and a few other things. I have been out of the game for a year lol, so i gotta get my step back. Good luckman

i wouldnt always go by that picture, a buddy of mine has a 1.6 4afe motor while the sticker said 1.8L 7afe.
only way to find out if you can tell me what color your injectors are? if its yellow, then its a 1.6 if its a red then its a 1.8

The most accurate and reliable way of determining which engine you have is to check the engine block number. It is stamped vertically, next to far right stud of the exhaust manifold. You have to get down quite low to see it, but it's fairly easy to spot (as long as it's not all rusted over), especially since you're using a header. Here's some pics. Mines a 5A-FE so says 5A, a 4A-FE would show 4A and a 7A-FE would show 7A:

You can do alot with a 5AFE, alot of those engines were shipped here in the Philippines.
It has a lower compression than the 4AFE if I'm not mistaken...
An ECU upgrade to a 4AFE is also a good option...
