Hey CCC
I took delivery of my old Toyota Camry Turbo after selling it almost 6 years ago, before moving to Spain. I sold it to a friend of mine/old school TN member who had helped me a lot with my project car and decided to buy it from me when i left for Spain. Fast forward almost 6 years and I have bought the car back from him.
He took good care of it made a few modifications, blew the original motor, swapped another 5sfe in it with lower miles and swapped over all the turbo parts from the blown motor to the new one. He changed out the oil lines from the turbo for better ones, changed the blitz bov i had for a Greddy one, changed the intercooler piping and a few other things.
3 years ago he moved to Okinawa, Japan and since then the car has been sitting in his parents shed in Northern Alabama. Well those years in that shed my poor car took somewhat of a beating.
When the car was delivered to me from the transport truck, it was so dirty there was mold on the paint, although I could not tell because it was night time and it just looked really dirty at the time. The engine started right up and ran fine and idled smoothly. I drove it back to the house where I am staying with no problems. The next day in the daylight i saw just had bad the car was:
Exterior: window trim and sunroof trim rotted, dent and missing lower door molding on the driver's side door, scratches in the paint from animals getting on top of the car, badly faded carbon fiber trunk, rims are off the car because the tires are badly rotted and need to be replaced, driver's side door handle is broke, etc
Interior: What can i say about the interior....found 4 dead mice in the car and trunk, water damage, mold on the steering wheel, feces from the mice all over the rear seat, and trunk interior, and the rear tint bubbled up.
Engine: Runs fine but needs a tune up, timing belt is loose and needs to be replaced, custom downpipe needs to be replaced with a better one because it is causing boost spike and the piping is too small(2.25"), gasket in between the exhaust manifold and the turbo needs to be replaced, needs a decent tune, and a few other things.
Suspension: Everything is fine for the most part with the suspension, but i want to replace my custom coilovers with new coilovers made for the Camry.
So far what I have done: It took me 3-4 hours just to wash and do a quick wax on the exterior of the car, i have removed the seats and many things from the trunk and stocked everything. Put in a new car battery, replaced the fuel filter with a new one, new cone air filter, put in a E85/93 octane mixture. Ordered/bought a new timing belt kit, water pump, ngk spark plug wires, ngk iridium heat range 7 plugs, royal purple 5w-30 synthetic oil, oil filter, oil pan gasket, Celica GT front seats, supra rotor big brake kit, mint rear seat, mint carpet, mint trunk interior, E53 5 speed tranny, custom front grill etc.
Well i think I have typed enough and left a lot for you guy's to read so I will post some pics of the car lol:
Monday night when i was delivered the car:
Shaking the hand of the truck driver that delivered me the car:
Getting in the car for the forst time in almost 6 years(not knowing there were 4 dead mice in the car lol, you can kind of see how nasty the car was):
After stocking the car up a bit took some pics:
Pics of a few of the things I have for it:
How the car used to look:
I will be updating this thread as i restore/modify the car. Have some new plans for it once I get it back in condition. I have to give credit and thanks to those who have helped me with getting my car back and are helping me with the new restoration/build: John(silverstreakin), Gino(2wickedtoyz), Kirsty(Mrs. 2wickedtoyz), Adam(ASG14), Kirt, and Eric(spraypaintman).
Thanks for your time and sorry for the long post lol.
