I bought a short ram from ebay for my 97 Corolla DX but it is too long. However, it looks like the tube will fit if I cut off a bit from both ends. After that it will fit, but then there is the issue of the O2. When I swap my o2 sensor into the short ram, it fits but the rubber gromet piece is loose..It doesnt fall out but it is not air tight? Will that be an issue if the rubber piece isnt air tight, or can it just sit in loose. Its in pretty loose in the stock air filter, but not as loose as the short ram.
I was also wondering about eliminating the pipe entirely and just connecting the short ram filter strait off the intake by a flange? has anyone done this?

I had the same problem with my first intake....The sensor you are talkin about is the air tempature sensor the o2 is on the exhaust..... Disconnect the sensor take it to a auto part store find a grommet that fits the sensor snug the grommets cost a bout $2

Also remember to stuff the intake with rags to protect the metal shavings from staying in the tube

Weird, I didn't know you could get intakes for our car that don't fit. I guess that's cheap ebay for you lol. Cutting the intake pipes is easy, and you could use some glue or silicone to hold the sensor in if you can't find the right plug. But that sucks the intake isn't actually for your car. Mine fit perfectly, including the sensor.

No worries! Ebay made a mistake but was relatively quick to send out the right pipe. I just installed my short ram yesterday and i really like the sound! ..At first, I tried putting it on backwards and realized the air temp sensor wouldnt reach. So I switched the pipe around and the sensor reached. However, the air filter just barely fits on the tube because the diagnosis box is in the way of the filter. I wish I could just move the diagnosis box like 1/4 inch.
Other than that, shes workin great!

The diagnostic box is shown in this picture all the way to the right, touching the intake piping, mounted to the strut tower under the metal bracket with holes holding the throttle cables.
