After talking to a few co-worker last night we were all laughing and joking then we put one person on spot saying why is it you have another job which is like his own selling phone bussiness or drinks either way its one of those pymirad jobs and he has that as his job and not a delivery pizza driver . He then says that he got into a argument on line with someone who told him " Your Just a Pizza Worker " and I guess this other guy was a rocket scientist . So he said he put that to make himself look more proffesional . All of us were WTF . I'm proud of every job I had and proud of delivering pizza's cruising in my corolla all hooked up getting comments . I was a supervisor at a tire shop and that was suppose to be the shit of off jobs and I wasnt ashamed of that . I even worked for a temp agency doing shit jobs and still told people what I did . I guess I love doing different jobs and I take them as a adventure in life . After getting layed off I have been delivering pizza for a year still looking for work but still I'm not ashamed of telling people that and I love doing this . I get to spend time with my car that I worked so hard to get looking nice and driving around with my CCC decals on the rear and side windows listening to music watching people taking pictures of my car as they pass me or give me thumbs up . My question is " What do you do for work ? Are you Ashamed of it ? Or is your nose stuck up in the air where you think your better then someone sweeping and mopping , stocking toilet bowls ? .

I'm not ashamed of my job just of who I work for and how they treat me. I'm a Mail Clerk/Office Clerk who basically does more than what he's job entitles and get paid for. I'm ashame of how much I get paid for so much I do. I work with great people and great hours. Nobody should be ashamed of what they do cause not everyone can do the same job, because then who would deliver our pizzas, cash us out at stores, stock our schools and offices. Every job is important and valuable. Again, not ashame of my job just my boss and my pay.
Very good topic Abuelo!!

I'm not ashamed I quit school when I was 15 to be a sub contractor with someone that was doing spa delivery for all the pool companies in Tucson I made 1500 to 2000 a week and if there was a show in the parking lots or the convention center I watched the spas for 3 or 4 nights to make sure nobody stole nothing and made 400 bucks a night and for the conventioncenter shows I had to move 30 spas by forklift on the floor for 24 hours some times but after the show we would take them all back to the store and make 3000 for 2 days work.... Then the fucking economy took a dump .... After I've worked a stable job up till last year for 8 years now I've worked fliping burgers rebuilding alternators and starters and got laid off to working build electronic dog collars got laid off then for Christmas time I rang a bell for salvation army and now I'm not working just took my pretest for my GED and the teacher said I "blew it out the water" now I have to take my real test tomorrow and sign up for college to get my ASE certification... Don't be ashamed of the things you do to get us through life and take care of our families not all of us have the pleasures growing up made or rich or rich families take me for example I grew up poor when I claimed taxes for the first time when I was 18 I made over 150k that year and now this year I'm claiming about 10k if that but its cool with me I got a lot of good shit working all those years and now I have to work some low end jobs to make it but anyone that has a job should be proud right now cause any job is a job and that's a lot to say these days

I think it depends on your education. Like, if you work hard to get a degree, then you wouldn't be happy with a mechanic or pizza delivery or janitor or something.

I've never been ashamed, nor should anyone ever feel like that. I've been working for the YMCA for about 7 years and nothing makes me happier than to promote community, family, and child development through a christian non profit organization. But some day I will be working the ER or rehab center at a children's hospital.
I truly think it's all about work ethic. Doesn't matter what you do, as long as you earn your pay the right way. Let's face it, there are some ppl that get paid much more than they deserve. It's a shame that for the most part, the hardest workers are the ones that don't get paid what they deserve.

Well ever since dropping out of high school at 17, and going to work to help my mom with the bills. And grew up in project housing. I'm going on my 3rd job now, my 1st lasted 3 years at the lake worth turnpike service plaza (sales associate aka cashier) made it all the way to assistant supervisor at the Gift Shop. I quit that and was out of work for a few months, went to my next job which only lasted a few months, when I quit since they had fired my sister.
Now my previous job I've been there since 04, I started thru a temp agency at $8 an hour on the 3rd shift. Went to 2nd shift 1st shift back to 3rd then 1st and now to 2nd. I started as a helper pulling orders and tarping trucks. I wanted to know everything, I enjoy learning new stuff. I always try and do the best I can if I'm putting my name on it. In almost 8 years and starting at the bottom I've made it to supervisor. And I still do everything I've done from day 1, never do i feel like im better then anyone or not proud of what i do. In life you have to love everything you do, no matter what the next person thinks of you. Make whatever you make an hour, be proud of it just know that one day it will pay off.
Alot of people say live everyday like its your last, for work i say treat everyday like its your first. You know you work hard and do everything to get the job, well you have to do the same to keep it.

I think it depends on your education. Like, if you work hard to get a degree, then you wouldn't be happy with a mechanic or pizza delivery or janitor or something. I couldn't agree with you more!!! I am not ashamed of what I do because I know that I love what I do. As of now I work as an ER tech at a local hospital and I have loved every minute of it. At times I get paid a lot for the little work I do and then others I don't get paid enough for the amount of work I have when we are busy. The best part of it is seeing the kids smile and feeling better or it can be the opposite when you see kids that come for something simple and it ends up being a very complicated diagnosis. You take the good with the bad and make sure to leave work at work and not bring it home. Since I liked working so much in the health field I decided to better myself and go into nursing school. I finally got done this past December and I'm currently waiting to sit for my registered nurse state board examination. I think for some people they get ashamed because they realize they could be doing better and they decided for x and y reason not to do it and now they look back and regret what they didnt do.

Nope. I used to be slightly ashamed before I was promoted, but only because I knew I could do my bosses job with ease. People may not think much when I say Im a store manager for Dollar Tree, but reality is, I work for a Fortune 500 company, have great benefits, great pay, work with awesome people, and Im one of, if not the youngest, store managers in Florida. That makes me proud of what I do.

I am certainly not ashamed of what I do; not wanting to sound cocky but I am in fact very good at it. What does bother me about my job is that I take it to the max day in, day out yet some colleagues around me get away with doing bare minimum and not having the best interest of the agency at heart. I am a Procurement Supervisor; with many years experience also in logistics, warehousing, inventory, etcetera, and every place I've worked I have improved the overall job performance of my assigned department. At my current position, my projects constantly have come under budget, saving several million dollars so far and no one cares. My team produces 3 to 5 times more work than the other team; yet they are the "pampered" ones....because they get the glamorous projects where savings are unimportant while my team and I do the unglamorous projects or the ones requiring "out of the box" solutions and we are constantly saving money. Another thing that bothers me is gossip in the office...as an example an employee was recently terminated (personally I don't agree why this person was terminated...but that's another story) the head gossiper (is that even a word? lol) it is my understanding has been contacting other agencies letting them know this person was terminated. Now what kind of crap is that? See, it seems the office gossip girls group started something to seek attention and this person was terminated as a result of collateral damage; so now they "claim" they want to help the person. Personally I think it is the guilty feeling eating them up at night...not to mention a lack of ethics. But I digress.....bottom line: If you like what you do and your job brings you a satisfied feeling each and every day, it absolutely does not matter what your actual job function is - you are an integral part of the overall picture. Without your contribution, the job and tasks do not get accomplished. ;D Palabras Con Luz ...... Enlighten Words

I believe no one should be ashamed of what type of work they do, be proud and do your best at all times............
Now my work history:
Dropped out of high school half way through 11th. got my GED while working at a warehouse in packing and shipping........left that to work a an oiler on a dragline, basically a grease monkey/mech. helper.......then pizza maker/driver...........then my uncle gave me a job at his quick lube, did that line of work for many years and every place, i started at the bottom and worked my way into management..........I even laid down sod.........worked as heavy equipment mechanic, got laid off collecting unemployment trying to support my wife and 2 kids at the time...........then found the current company i work for, started out at the bottom and transferred to my current position as Customer Service Coordinator at Ryder Transportation in Lakeland.............basically a service writer, but i don't do what is required, because I do what the shift supervisor is suppose to be doing. I am the shift supervisor at a secretary pay scale..........but I don't look at it that way, because awhile back I applied for a shift supervisor position at another location. Got turned down for someone already working at that location. Did I take as a defeat, NOPE what that did for me is move my name to the list that the uppers managers are keeping an eye on me and sending me to training...............So moral of the story is no matter what you do, do your best at it and it will pay off at some point..........
For a guy in my position with a wife and the 4th kid on the way, I do what it takes to provide and take off them..............
Very good topic ant...................
