Hi,
We have to remove and replace the front lower control arm on our 2000 Corolla.
How far do I tighten the castle nut on the ball joint? Do I just hand tighten til it stops and then put in the cotter pin in? Or do I hand tighten till resistance is felt, then a 1/4 turn more, line up the holes and insert and bend the cotter pin?
I haven't been under the car in a few weeks, but is there a tie rod with a castle nut on it as well? Do we have to use the same technique on that castle nut?
Thanks
Rod

You tighten that sucker as tight as you can , then only you line up the cotter pin hole , if you have to back up just a tiny bit to line it up that's fine but if you have to tighten it up more to line it up then that's fine - just get it nice and tight
