HI GUYS IM NEW HERE AND TO CARS IN GENERAL BUT IM EAGER TO LEARN. I GOT A 91 COROLLA DX SEDAN IM LOOKING INTO PUTTING LOTS OF TIME, WORK, AND MONEY INTO. HOPEFULLY I CAN GET SOME HELP FROM EVERYONE AND MAYBE EVENTUALLY I CAN PASS THAT SAME KNOWLEDGE ON TO SOMEONE ELSE. LOOKING FORWARD TO BUILDING WITH EVERYBODY!
"ARBY" (MY COROLLA) DIED ON THE ROAD RECENTLY, AFTER TROUBLESHOOTING I DETERMINED IT WASNT GETTING SPARK AND REPLACED THE DISTRIBUTOR, IT WOULD START AFTER BUT SOUNDED ROUGH OR WEAK, AS I WAS TESTING THE SPARK PLUGS THE ENGINE DIED AGAIN AND NOW IT WILL STILL START BUT DIES RIGHT AWAY, IF ANYONE CAN HELP I'D APPRECIATE IT TONS!!! THANKS FOLKS

Welcome to the CCC have you check the fuel pressure it could be the fuel pump failing to run properly.

Welcome to the forum - Me personally my relay switch some how came up for my efi - Another thing have you checked to see if the timing belt jumped a tooth ??

HEY THANKS GUYS, SO I TOOK ARBY TO FRIEND WHO'S DONE LOTS OF MECHANIC WORK AND HE SAYS THE NEW DISTRIBUTOR I GOT IS NO GOOD AS WELL AND POINTED OUT SOME FLAWS I HADN'T NOTICED, SO I'M PICKING UP ONE FROM A JUNKYARD THIS TIME INSTEAD OF HAVING IT SHIPPED SO AS NOT TO RISK ANY UNFORESEEN DAMAGE IN HANDLING IT, I HAD PREVIOUSLY DETERMINED IT WASN'T THE FUEL PUMP BECAUSE IT DEFINITELY HAD PRESSURE WHEN I LOOSENED THE LINE, EVEN CHECKED ALL THE FUEL INJECTORS AND THEY'RE FINE, MECHANIC SAYS ALL WIRES TO ECU LOOK FINE SO WE'LL GIVE THIS NEW DISTRIBUTOR ONE MORE GO, AND I'LL CHECK TO SEE IF THE TIMING BELT JUMPED TOO THANKS GUYS, I'LL REPORT AGAIN SOON

HEY GUYS JUST WANTED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT ARBY IS ALIVE ONCE AGAIN! THANKS FOR ALL YOUR SUGGESTIONS AND HELP! IT TURNED OUT THE "BRAND NEW" DISTRIBUTOR I BOUGHT WAS NO GOOD BUT THE ONE I GOT FROM A JUNKYARD WORKED JUST FINE ALSO JUST FOR MY INFORMATION, WOULD A KILL SWITCH THAT WAS WIRED TO THE IGNITION COIL CAUSE THIS INITIAL FAILURE? BECAUSE I INSTALLED ONE AND IT WORKED GREAT FOR A FEW MONTHS LEADING UP TO THIS INCIDENT, OR PERHAPS ITS JUST CUZ IT HAD NEARLY 90,000 MILES ON IT? IDK LEMME KNOW THANKS!
