Me and a buddy were changing my spark plugs a couple night ago into my 1999 toyota corolla, we put in NGK pro series plugs and we assumed they were pre-gapped when we put them in and started the car it ran really bad so we turned it off and gapped them after trying to start the car it would not turn on and made a bad sounding noise, after that the car would not turn on at all, it only cranks but wont turn over, we trouble shooted it and found that the fuel pump IS working and so are the ignition coils and spark plugs (sparks coming from both ends) so we decided to check the starter, we removed the two bolts on the left side of the starter and realized that the upper bolt is being blocked by the header so we gave up and put the bolts back in to do it another time, but we did not disconnect the battery, and i read that its important to disconnect batter before removing some bolts? so did we damage the starter by not disconnecting the batter? or is it different bolts? Because after that we tried starting the car and it cranked but then just died and all it does now is click click click, and helps is much appreciated as my car is stuck at my buddys apartments down the road. Did we blow a fuse, or relay or something?! If it was indeed a failing starter then how do we remove it? does the header have to come off? found a video on youtube (not my car) but same exact sound but now all it does is click after we tampered with it... either that or the battery is dead after trying to many times.

Is changing the spark plug the only thing you did You problaby have the wrong spark plug in your car , certian year corolla's non vvti you have to have K16TR11 or 3194 Denso .... You cant put no other plug in that car or else the plugs will foul out , There is no gapping thses plugs ... They have to look like the photo below , If not then good luck bro , Then from turning the car so much your killing the battery to cause it isnt charging . Now this is j ust my experience with plugs ...

starters has nothing to do with making your car run like crap and making it not start, if its cranking then your start is good unless it is making the bad noise like a high pitched sound. also did you gapped it properly? also what kind of plugs did you use? denso and NGK are the best for toyotas, also did you connect the harness for the coil packs? when you did the plugs? i do it all the time when i do the 1zzfe motors, i always forget the last coil pack. but thats when i do my start test. also the clicking sound is your battery is dead like rinconrolla said.

I used the NGK pro series, i dont get how using these spark plugs would keep the car from turning on, when we put them in without gapping them the car turned on but ran and sounded like CRAP so we turned it off and gapped them again, and when we tried to start it it wouldnet start at all and now all it does is crank and click. should i exchange the spark plugs because i "fouled" up those?

Your having two seperate problems , Wrong plugs use the ones I posted up and your second problem is you killed your battery . You have to recharge your battery and replace your plugs . Changing your plugs isnt gonna recharge your battery . Auto ZOne charges batteries for free ... But I would find a denso plug or a NGK plus that cross reference in the numbers I gave you in denso name ....

Well, im gonna just jump start the car, but i dont understand how using the wrong sprak plugs will keep the car from starting at all, because it started fine at first and ran like shit, now it wont start at all.. just cranked.

If your spark plug heat rating isnt for your specific car you can burn out the plugs the wires and your coil packs , Unless you have a 300 + HP car your better sticking to the OEM plug just because you use a plug that says pro series or irridum or even platnum ,,,, Those are made for more horsepower cars with a set heating range ..... There problaby so messed up it wont start ... Like you said your car was running ok before you changed the plugs ..... I have the same year car and if you dont have the two prong plug your car will run like shit and eat gas ... Cause it will never m ake the energy as the one prong and dont use bosch they suck

yes denso like rincon said or the NGK, now for the NGK i use the V-POWER, and never had problem they are 2 bucks a piece. also may be your GAP is too far for the spark to reach.

Just another update.... things are looking worse now, motor still not turning on, new plugs, new wires, new starter, and nothing has worked, fuel pump is turning on and the ignition coilds, wires, and spark plugs are functioning.
Im starting to think the worst... seized engine... just keeps cranking but no start.

im just wondering, if you have a seized engine, then it would not crank at all. also are you getting proper fuel pressure? also if your car sounds like that video, then you must not be getting proper fuel pressure, i would get and rent a tester or buy one, or go to a junk yard and get another fuel pump.
you can have fuel spitting out but, not the factory spec that requires to run the motor.
i have had my dodge neon run at 5psi making the car barely run, while factory spec was suppose to be around 40

Yea check to see if your getting fuel , the only thing I can think is some how you jumped timing .... But check to see if your getting fuel is to spray some engine start in your throttle body and if it starts up and dies then its your fuel pump

That year car DOES NOT come with a fuel filter .... just the sock in the tank .... So your pump is gone ... and there easy to change out

pumps can go out around 100k also toyota fuel filters can last 1 billion miles and not clog up. but again im sure your fuel filter is junk now, just go to a junk yard a buy one, look for a low mileage corolla and your all set. unless they sell it cheap at the store.
