Well, others are keeping a record, so figure I may as well also. Helping my 15yo friend do the swap. He bought the car a year or so ago to fix up as his 1st car. Spent around $500 fixing the engine back and bringing it back to life, only to have a massive Head Gasket failure just after we took it to a show. So, he decided on a 20V swap, and his goal, we finish it for his 16th BDay. Going to keep an ongoing price list. $366, all OEM Toyota: - $ Exhaust cam seal - $ Rear main seal - $ PCV Valve - $ PCV grommet - $ T-Belt idler - $ T-Belt - $ T-stat - $ T-state gasket - $ Spark plug tube gaskets (4) - $ Water pump - $ T-Belt tension - $ Intake cam seal - $ Valve cover gasket - $ Valve cover washer (3) - $ Intake manifold gasket Total to date $366

^ My friend has been HIGHLY researching this build, so I'll hook you up with him if you want. There is a LOT of people doing shortcuts which in the end may cost more. I HOPE to have it in and running by his BDay in May. But it;s all a $ thing. His mom paid for the engine for him, but everything else is up to him. and unfortunatly, being 15, he can't get a "real" job. The 6spd I was originally goign to take for my Corolla, but I'm lookign to a diff engine (and no money now), so I sold it to a friend who's throwing a 20VBT into his AE92. It hink he;s on this forum, but not sure. I actually decided to start this thread after I saw yours, lol. The other big expenses are goignt o be the water line relocation kit, Dizzy relocation kit (we REFUSE to touch the firewall), and wireharness (goignt o have Dr Tweak @ Phoenix Tuning do it).

I may as well add a few things as to why we plan to do what we are.
Haveing Dr. Tweak (Phoenix Tuning) make the harness: -Granted it is NOT cheap, but you get what you pay for. I've seen his work in person. I'd liek to have the harness made and ready to put into the car knowing there won;t be any issues. And he has made several already for puttign the 20V into the AE86.
Dizzy relocation kit: -Why not just leave it the way it is? Simple, who the hell wants to bash in the firewall on a classic car? Not many people. They do it because it's cheaper.
Waterline relocation kit: -Most people use the 16V setup and just mod a few things to fit. That sounded all fine and dandy to us at 1st, and it's how we planned to do it. But, Jacob (my friend) decided to do some research and found out the 20V head runs hotter then the 16V head. So, THAT is why the stock 20V has the cooling in the opposite way. The head gets cooled 1st since it;s hotter. I asked the shop foreman where I work (Toyota dealer), and he said if the stock water flow is to cool the head 1st, do not change it.
