Captain America: The First Avenger (July 22, 2011)Another superhero origins movie finds Chris Evans toting the iconic Captain America shield and doing battle with Hugo Weaving's Red Skull. One of the characters who will appear in 2012's The Avengers movie, what kind of tease do you think we'll get after the end credits?
Green Lantern (June 17, 2011)Ryan Reynolds turns in his Deadpool swords to play Hal Jordan in the CGI-heavy Green Lantern. Playing his love interest, Carol Ferris is Blake Lively, fresh off her turn in Ben Affleck's The Town. How will Lantern defeat Mark Strong's Sinestro? Find out when Green Lantern hits theaters June 17th!
X-Men: First Class (June 3, 2011)As with most superhero franchises, the "in" thing is to go back to the origins and the X-Men franchise is no different. In First Class, we get the origin story of friends-turned-enemies Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr, better known as Professor X and Magneto respectively. Directed by Matthew Vaughn of Kick-Ass fame, First Class features Beast, Havok, Riptide, Banshee and Emma Frost among the cast of X-characters.
The Dark Knight Rises (July 20, 2012)Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale's final Batman movie is destined to be one of the biggest movies of 2012. True to his filmmaking style, Nolan has kept an air-tight seal on information but we do know that Anne Hathaway will portray Catwoman and Tom Hardy will portray Bane. And then there's Marion Cotillard and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, cast as boardwoman Miranda Tate and Gotham City cop John Blake...it's like Inception (at least cast-wise), except possibly better...
The Amazing Spiderman (July 4, 2012)It's a new decade and so it makes sense that the Spiderman franchise would get a reboot (at least if you're a studio exec). Having undergone a reboot in 2002 with Tobey Maguire, this time Social Network's Andrew Garfield dons the skin-tight suit and mask in a Marc Webb-directed action-adventure. Rhys Ifans portrays Spidey's nemesis The Lizard while Irrfan Khan has been added as Proto-Goblin.
The Avengers (May 4, 2012)The long-awaited and highly anticipated mega superhero movie featuring Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Chris Evan's Capt. America and Mark Ruffalo's Bruce Banner/Hulk finally storms into theaters this time next year. Directed by fanboy favorite Joss Whedon, Avengers also features Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johannson, Jeremy Renner and Stellan Skarsgard in its cast of famous faces.
Ghost Rider 2 (Feb. 17, 2012)Apparently enough people went to see the first Ghost Rider movie that Columbia Picutres decided we wanted more Nic Cage and flaming skulls/chains/motorcycle tires. No Eva Mendes this time, as we find Johnny Blaze hiding out in Eastern Europe before he is summoned to stop The Devil who's trying to take human form.
