Hi all, at all my 4age 20v st in my corolla e10 (ee100) is not working well. Problem is in engine power. I got 0-100 in 10s =( So Im looking for problem and my opinion is VVT. Because I made "VVT light" (from ECU VVT cable(red-black) on A/T ECU ->M16 + resistor 1kOhm + led -> battery plus). And it only turn on when i put key to "switching cabinet" but on at 4.400 rmp. So my question is : What all is needed to turn on VVT? OCV - is OK it is "claping" ... But what next?
ECU is from A/T , car is M/T.

Wow wow wait your car is a 5 speed running on auto ecu?
Second well is it hitting vvt? And you can tell when it does there is a major pick up in the motor
If I were you I would look for m/t ecu ... And also check if everything in the wiring is plugged in like the vvt solenoid and if it is and vvt is not popping then I would buy a new vvt solenoid

Yes auto ecu and 5 speed manual I swap engine from Toyota Ceres(AE101) to Corolla EE100. When is time to turn on VVT(4400 rmp) it seems nothing happend. m/t ecu will maybe be better .. but it meens new wiring vvt solenoid only "claping" like relay when i connect plus and minus to it. So it is ok, right? I will check wiring for sure. And thank you for fast answer.

Where do you live? And yeah just check that everything is plugged in like it should and locate the vvt solenoid and make sure its plugged in right or nit damaged because if it's not hitting vvt then it has to do with that you should buy a new vvt solenoid an try it out if it still doesnt work return the new one and get your money back but already that way you'll know it's not that

Im from czech republic Ok I will check wiring. VVT solenoid is only thing that is necessary for hitting vvt? I tried chcek VVT solenoid by connecting plus and minus to his pins ..and it make "click" like relay. But I will try to go to toyota dealer and order new vvt solenoid.

question:
what kind of wiring and ECU set up do you have?
are you running your silvertop engine with an A/T ECU ST or A/T ECU BT?
either way, with the right way of wiring, wiring an ST on an A/T ECU will work properly. some of the peeps i know who are running with an M/T ST on an A/T ECU claim they have a bit higher revlimit and are even much mo responsive than that of an M/T ECU.
my friends ST runs on an A/T BT ECU, runs smoothly.
did you do the whole wiring of ST?
perhaps it could be wiring issues causing your VVT to not respond the way it should. HTH.

Im running silvertop engine with A/T ECU ST
In my case rev limit is around 7800-7900...
I made my wiring alone, and Im amateur in this. So problem can be in it. I take wiring from Toyota Sprinter AE101 A/T and with some modifications I put it to my Corolla EE100 M/T .. But I dont have sufficient knowledge so mybe problem is in wiring. If any one have some HOWTO about wiring A/T ECU ST to M/T Silvertop .. I can check it with one I made

I think, the problem may lie in the wiring Bro.
It's cool to hear you're doing this as a DIY, credit to you on that.
BUT... If you have friends around you in your area who can help, get that help. You will be looking at two wiring diagrams, that of the MT and AT diagrams for the ST... It's a bit difficult to wire an ST using an AT ST ECU than using an AT from a BT ECU primarily because the latter only differs in the orientation of the pinouts in the 22pinout (not too sure) sockets....
Have you ever tried considering using either a MT or AT BT ECU so that you can get rid of the air flow meter and use a MAP sensor instead? I find this option a better course to take.

Yesterday I tried to check wiring and stock all contacts.. and woala :-D VVT is WORKING NOW :-) But not as classic Silvertop ... in my car it is working like BT (on throttle possition).
Resume : 7800-7900 rpm, VVT activated by throttle possition, but still Silvertop with AFM ..strange :-)
To future I want to try make new wiring for MT or AT BT ECU, because of MAP sensor, cuz I see future of my car with some boost(turbo and supercharger maybe)
And one big reason why my project is DIY .. In my country there are only TWO 4A-GE 20V, one is BT in AE86 and one is mine ST in EE100 :-)

yup strange it is with the AFM on it, but hey, that's good for your set up...
if you're gonna go BT ECU in the future, use the AT kind... you will need a 22 pin-out too...
Nice trivia btw...
Please document your DIY bro, we'd love to see your work...
