I have a little issue with the warning lights on my corolla. It's very random when it occurs and has only happened twice within a 4-5 day period.
Anyway the battery, overheat and rear light warning lights on the dashboard flicker on and off randomly for around 5 mins after a cold start. there's no pattern to the flashing and they disappear after a short time. I'll be getting this checked over by a mechanic next Monday but might shift it forward to this Wednesday if it could be serious. any ideas on what it could be?
as an extra note it never has trouble starting and I have not noticed any changes in power, sound or any other behaviour in the car since this has happened.

could it be anything to do with the alternator or belts at all? just had a look around online and apparently the same lights may go on with an alternator issues. any help or suggestions on where to look would be greatly appreciated so i can tell the mechanic where to start lol

To be honest it could be something as simple as even a short in the wiring or something like that, it's hard to tell without being able to diagnois it in person..

Sounds like one of two issues , When battery light comes on it is your alternator , Now whether it can be the belt unless you changed the belt then you should take it off and take it to a auto parts store that test alternator ,
First thing I would do is check and see if the wire to the alternator is loose sometimes that happens .
But here in the US Auto ZOne does free testing on the car and off the car .

does this sound like the alternator starting to fail: lights mentioned above on, cold start. stopped at an intersection not far from my house with indicator on, the lights (apart from the battery icon) flashed in sync with the indicator and the voltage meter was almost at halfway on the gauge and at the moment is at around 13 volts but the gauge needle moves slightly when an indicator is on in sync with the indicator flashing? im just hoping it can last till the weekend . EDIT: forgot to mention now the warning lights are all off, been trying to listen for any weird sounds from the cabin but i cant hear any yet

Does it have a problem turning on ever? But the fact that it turns off while its on already sounds like the alternator because once a car is running it runs on the alt you can even unplug the battery and it would still run ... But like said above it can be a lot of things unless your actually looking at the car you don't really know but I would say it sounds like a failing alt
