Hmmm so I just got back from the pick n pull with this gauge cluster and I noticed that it's redline is a few RPMs shorter than my other one. What's the reason for that? Is it because one is for a 1.8 and the other is for the 1.6? Or is it because they altered the rev limiter later on for the 7th gen?

I just noticed the font for the KPH is also differently colored. It came out of an automatic Corolla with a sunroof and cruise control. I'm not sure what trim and motor that comes from.. could it be a 5AFE?

I would definitely go with the 1.6 vs 1.8.

The automatic Corollas here come with a slightly lower redline, the same as in your pic, but your clusters both appear to be to suit a manual. Must just be 1.6L vs 1.8L as others have said.

The redline is because one is from a 1.6 4afe and the other from a 1.8 7afe

wow, I never noticed this..... interesting. I ended up with the lower RPM tach cluster.

Yeah I just found out that the 7AFE uses the lower rpm and the 4AFE uses the higher one. I had the wrong tach in.

lol made me feel pretty dumb for a second there. Okay this part isn't important if you don't plan to swap out your tachless clusters: I think I discovered something else while swapping out the tachs. I noticed the gas gauge for the 4AFE cluster his the letter 'A' labeled on it and the 7AFE cluster's gas gauge has the number '1' labeled on it. So why is this important? I think that the 'A' is for the 4AFE motors and the '1' is for the 7AFE. I was on ToyotaNation and I read that some people got inaccurate gas readings when they swapped out their tachless clusters, and others didn't. Here's the link: www.toyotanation.com/forum/130-7th-generation-1993-1997/215639-4afe-gauge-cluster-tach-5.htmlHere's my proof: I have a 7AFE and I've been rocking the swapped 4AFE gauge cluster for quite some time now. But today after I swapped my 4AFE gas gauge with the 7AFE one, my gas reading actually seemed correct. It used to drop to the 1/2 mark after driving just 70 miles and then it would hang out the 3/4 mark for the next 100 miles... that's just not right. Now it doesn't do it anymore after the swap.
