so the other day my brother and i lowered my car, now there seems to be a slight problem with what looks like the front right CV. either that or the seal to the trans. the fluid leaking is similar to oil from the look and feel of it, just black. could it be possible that while we were working we disturbed something in that area as we were putting the springs in?

so i crawled under the car today and found this where the leak came from. is the cv boot not on correctly? and there was what i'd call grease all over the subframe?? whatever takes up the whole top right of the photo. im a real noob with cars and i probably need to start a thread just for my questions lol . Anyway i think this is what's wrong and is it a case of just repacking grease into the boot and slipping it on or is there more to it. when i had a feel around it didnt feel like it was attached properly. cheers for your help guys

If that is the actual boot( can't really tell from the pic) then the boot is broken and you need to replace it eventually the axel will go bye bye and you'll know when its close to that because it will be clicking very noticeably ... And if its not the boot and the axel popped out then pop it back in but I don't think you would be able to throw any gear in and there wouldn't be grease everywhere sounds like more like the boot ripped

finally got under the car enough to sort the problem. Turns out the boot fell off because the clips holding it weren't tight enough. its all attached and fixed now and that got rid of a little tick that must have been the boot flapping around
