Hey what's up guys it's been awhile since i have been on. To all of my friends and CCC family i have a question relating to acoustic exhaust tone. Im running a 2.5 straight pipe exhaust system with a glass pack cherry bomb res and a 3 inch inlet and 3.5 outlet HKS fart muffler can and quite frankly it's way too loud. The high pitch rasp past 4k rpm is too much and would like to tone it down with a low deep tone kinda like a subaru sti and of coarse not loose power at the same time, i also like the Lexus LFA'S acoustic sound. Suggestions?

Well, unfortunately it will never sound like an STI or LFA lol.
Rasp usually comes from headers and de-cat. Maybe post a video?

I would suggest a bigger and longer resonator what I had on my 7th gen 20v was so quite all you heard was motor all the time and it was 2.5 inch pipping as well with a forza exhaust tip

I have a 2.5" straight pipe from the header back with an obx high flow cat and magnaflow exhaust and I love the way it sounds. Not too loud, mostly hear the motor and has a nice deep tone when I really get on it

gold94corolla I understand the deletion of the cat and the type brand header will create unbalanced tone and rasp, just looking for good combinations of a Res and Muffler by others experiances. Check out the 10th anniversay and cook outs for the west coast chapter, theres vids there of the car.

remove that muffler you have on there and put a cherry bomb muffler in it's place. though it must be the longest they have 2.5 in/out and it sound stock.
i recently put one on a supercharged solara that origially had a trd muffler and the improvement was substantial. the sound is much better that another superharged v6 with a magnaflow.
try it out and you might like it. just remember to put the "louvers" in the direction to catch the noise.

after a few different setups on mine i ended up with no muffler, no cat, and just a universal truck resonator from the local muffler shop. when i had a magnaflow cat, a glasspack resonator, and glasspack muffler the rasp made me almost never wanna go fast. my current setup has no rasp at all and actually isnt loud idling or in the car. the current resonator is chambered btw. from what i've gathered tho, IMO the only real way kill the rasp is to use a/some chambered exhaust pieces instead of straight through because they redirect the sounds instead of trying to absorb them like glasspack (i.e. cherrybombs)
