That is the C60 (6 speed internals) swapped over to the C52http:// / C56 bell housing All the gears, shafts the diff. Everything. Some more pics... This is the center housing of the C60 which must be used to accommodate the 6th gear This is the 6th gear tail housing and gears This is the finished product. Pretty obvious what was used and what wasn't... Modified this piece to allow the Corolla transmission mounting bracket to bolt on. No big issue really

Thanks, I think I'm the first to put a C60 in the Corolla mated to a 20V, so I'm pretty excited!

Accidentally ordered the wrong flywheel and clutch kit. Got the right one in yesterday.

Began installing the 6 speed today. First I ordered some new flywheel bolts since the originals were removed twice and I really didn't want to torque them down again. So sprang for some new bolts for less than $25 Installed the new flywheel...purrrty Then the clutch Then the fun part, the gearbox. I was by myself so it was a bit of a pain. But with the help of the hoist, and some ingenuity with the chains, I got it lined up pretty damn close. Once installed, I started with the remaining bits. Then, I got the shift cables on and noticed something is not going to work, I couldn't shift thru all the gears and the shifter was kicked over hard towards the left. I kind of knew there would be this issue there, but unfortunately, not sure what to do yet to fix it. I'm actually thinking I will need the C60 shift cables, and possibly modify my shifter still, but I will cross that road later.

So, here's the issue. Hoping my fellow 9th Gen Corolla guys can help me out here: The shift cables are basically not in the correct position to go into all the gears. What I mean is, on top of the transmission, there is this bracket that looks similar to this one below. The one on top is the old C56 and the one on the bottom is the one from the C60 that came with the transmission...which was out of a Matrix XRS. I tried modifying the old bracket but still not quite right. This is making the cables not line up properly making it difficult to shift, or not shift at all due to the cable travel. How you can help: 1. First off, is the cable linkage on the 9th gen corolla with the C60 on the radiator side or firewall side like mine is now? ? 2. Can anyone please provide a picture of the bracket from a 9th Gen XRS Corolla 5 speed or 6 speed? 2. And last, can anyone with a 9th gen Corolla measure the shifter base mounting bolts. The front two on mine were not as far apart as the rear. The front measured bolt center to bolt center 75mm across. The rear was 92mm across. And from the front bolts to the rear bolts was 220mm. Sorry for the terrible schematic.... If the 6 speed shifter will bolt in, this would be ideal. Any other pics or tips would help a bunch so I can get this project done. I'm hoping not to modify a bracket or shifter if I can avoid it and swap in a bracket that will work and/or cables and shifter if I have to also. Thanks everyone!

Well FINALLY some good news. After researching different forums and posting up my issues. I was able to find out some crucial info that the Celica shifter from 2000-05 would bolt into the 7th gen. So, I found one for $65 total and got it in just yesterday to test fit. Unfortunately the guy said the cables were cut so I still have to source them, but with this shifter, and the cables, this should fix my issue. Here is a pic of my old shifter next to the Celica one. Notice the difference in height! Here it is after I test fitted it in the car. You can see the boot is compressed lol. But it looks damn good to have it in there. I'm looking for the cables now, and as soon as I get them, I will be posting up my progess.

So, finally to close this thread out, it's definitely possible to mate the C60 to any 4AGE engine. I would recommend this to anyone who would prefer this option over importing a C160, however, please be advised, there are some negative aspects about the swap and I will try to list them here. 1. Find a good used C60. This was not easy since it seems the cars that came with transmission are somewhat rare (i.e. Matrix XRS, Corolla XRS, and Celica GTS). The year models were between 2000-2005. Also try to find one that may have been wrecked in the front where one of the motor mounts broke the bell housing, other wise they may want to charge you around $600 + for this transmission. This is one way you can talk them down for a cheaper price, and since you will need to swap the housing with your older housing, the broke one won't be needed anyway. 2. The CV axles have to be swapped since the inboard splines are 20. I have found both axles that would work with our cars and will post this information later tonight. The one for a Camry worked out perfect, except, the bolts were different size so I had to picked up these cap screw bolts from Home Depot. 3. The passenger side transmission seal had to be measured and ordered. Not sure why, but the CV shaft I ordered for the passenger side would not go in as far so I had to get a seal the would seal on the smaller end of the shaft. This was because of the design of the bell housings were different. The seal on the top is the driver side. It was the original seal for the C60. The bottom one is the custom seal (National #481792) 4. The shifter and shift cable dillema. I ended up using the stock shift cables, but I used a Celica GTS shifter. The stock one might have worked. Never actually tested it to see. Also you have to modify the bracket in order for the cable travel to reach into reverse. I will add a picture later tonight as well. 5. Last advice is to have the bell housing swapped at a transmission shop if you don't know what your doing or don't have the tools. These "C" series gear boxes should be disassembled from the tail housing first. So this means you can't simply swap the bell housings. If anyone would like, I have PDF file for the C60 from Toyota that explains disassembly. Sorry I didn't have all the pictures up yet, doing this from my work computer

So in this one you will have better torque ? Plus is this one a 5 speed or 6 speed ?
