I have a 96 4afe and my car wont go reverse, all it do is go forward even in neutral.(automatic)

Reverse does not engage? Or it will not come out of drive? Sounds like you may need a transmission bud.

It wont engage, I check the transmission oil and is over full. But yesterday it was like back to normal. Every gear was like they should so what could that be?

Unless the band or the ECM for the transmission , But something inside is bad , if its not working it needs to be rebuilt even with full fluid it wont work

Information I found
No Reverse
Improper fluid level. Transmission shift cable broken or misadjusted. Improper band/clutch application pressure. Fluid filter damaged or plugged. Main control assembly gaskets damaged or bolt out of torque. Main control separator plate damaged. Pump assembly bolts out of specifications. Reverse clutch burnt, worn, or leaking. Direct/reverse servo piston seal cut/leaking.

Is been working fine now, so I dont know what could it be. But I still hear a sound from the front left (I guess is the transmission) when I accelerate.

my transmission just went bad(manual) but when it used to be an automatic(manual swap) it fucked me over while i was on my way to an event down in Florida(Sibling rivalry. It was making wierd noises and hummed alot. Bad sign. Your transmission needs to be worked on or swapped. No other way to look at it. Transmissions are fragile and ALWAYS go bad. My manual just lost all of its synchros and I had to make an emergency trip to get another. So crazy lol Lots of money but i still had a good deal. Good luck

also I recommend the manual swap. Not only is it better on gas, its more fun in my opinion and cheaper to maintenance.

I was thinking to just buy one corolla that comes with the manual and just change the bolt on I have instead of the swap

Honestly I'd been contemplating a manual swap for quite some time. I've decided to just stay auto bc honestly I believe it's not worth the money. If ur really bent on having manual I would suggest just buying a manual and then do the swap. Seems like a lot but unless ur doing the swap yourself you're gonna spend a ton in labor costs. IMO

After doing my manual swap personally I was amazed and I love it , it was worth every penny and not only can you brag that you did this build and not bought motto lol
I love manual more now then ever since I did it , akuma will tell you its worth doing in your own cause you learn more about your car and you will see how easy it is to fix her up as well ,
