Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone here has gotten their Compressor replaced? I don't feel like getting a quote and going through all that hassle. I bought the new compressor but I'm wondering if anyone knows how much it'll cost just to replace? Im kinda on a budget here. Love from Houston, TX!

I can tell you this getting a/c work can run you from $800 to $1200 easily
Cause the manufacture wont warranty the compressor unless you change the dryer receiver and a orfice tube if your car calls for one , Then you have to run a evap in your system to charge it up , That's the proper way of doing it , Even if your sure you have no leaks to begin with and you replace those parts and go to a place to have them recharge the system you can save some money , but the reason I mention pep boys is cause I work for them and they do give out free estimates , other then calling around and finding out prices but if your compressor failed there is a chance you have dirt in the line and you need to replace those other parts or else it will bite you back and you need a evap , some places rent the machine but here in florid they stopped that cause there is a newer Freon coming out .

yea, a/c systems can be tricky, you need to be sure you diagnose it well first. Most compressors stop working because they either siezed up, or the freon got low, which means there is a leak, which meansd it could be leaking anywhere. I would hook guages to it first which you can rent and see what the pressures are in the system. If it's low, then buy one can of freon with leak detector and see where it leaks. Then you can progress from there.
