I just picked up a 92 corolla to put together for my daughter's first car. The previous owner blew out the transmission so I got it for a steal. After pulling the trans and opening it up it appears that he somehow shattered the shaft that holds the gear turning the differential, I have been beating myself up trying to find a replacement trans in my area to no avail. It is the A131L. I have even been looking for a kit to rebuild it, but no luck there. I have never done a trans rebuild but I am a pretty good wrench so I don't doubt my ability to do it, just can't find the parts. I have pondered doing a manual swap in it, but she is intimidated by learning to drive a stick.Any ideas on what I should do?are there any other trannys that will bolt up? Should I consider maybe a eng/trans swap? If I go swap, what would be the easiest and least expensive? she just turned 15 and I'm not looking to blow several K on a car she probably won't stay in very long. Thanks in advance for any help and advice.

In your case what size motor do you have ? If its a A sereies you can bolt up and 7afe or 4afe tranny to it , I just dont know if your gonna need the tranny brain to go with it - But dont go to manual if your not looking to spend any money - Just make sure if you have a Over Drive button on yourt shifter you need to find a Over Drive tranny

That's the 4afe 3spd trans that you have. They are kinda hard find with low mileage.
