The Toyota Supra is nearing its return for 2019, and new renderings show off the sports car's attractive styling. Enthusiast forum SupraMKV.com imagined the next-generation coupe sans the camouflage worn by tests mules in spy photographs. Freed from those black and white curlicues, the website illustrates the Supra's proportions and curves. The forum's renderings highlight the parallels between the Supra and the FT-1 concept, which suggested in 2014 that Toyota was serious about reprising its iconic sports car. Up front, we see wide headlights, a pointed nose, and side strakes that frame the face of the car and likely aid aerodynamics. In back are taillights and aero that also echo the FT-1. While these features are not obvious in spy shots, SupraMKV.com suggests the final production model will look much like the concept car. We're inclined to agree. The Supra is being developed with BMW as part of a sports-car partnership that will also spawn the Z4 successor, expected to be called the Z5. The Supra name was used from 1978 to 2002, and trademark filings indicate Toyota's next sports car will use it again, though the company has not confirmed that. The rear-wheel drive car will likely have some form of Toyota's hybrid technology to aid fuel economy and performance, similar to how we expect Ford to equip its upcoming hybrid Mustang.
