hey everyone. i know this may be a long shot but does anyone know if there's a writeup out there on how to do a proper 20v st swap into a 97 corolla. i had taken my car to a shop to have it put in but now the mechanics telling me the swap is to complicated and he doesnt want to do it anymore. WTF he means idk, i heard it was pretty straight forward. Anyway, my buddy and i are going to try and do it ourselves but were just wondering if theres anything out there we could use as a reference guide. Thx in advance

also the motor's already mounted, except for the trans mount. and its a complete swap(trans, wiring, ecu, everything) just looking for some direction if any

It is a straight forward swap, bolt in 20valve, send harness to doug(mr220v@gmail.com) and then install his harness full plug and play and run the car.

What trans do you have, 6speed? Which 20V you have. Either way its straight forward but the 6speed trans will need a custom trans mount

i mean everything ive read says its a pretty straight forward swap, thats why i didnt understand wtf the mechanics problem was. the swap came with an a/t trans, its a silvertop, and it came with the complete wiring and ecu, not cut at all. do i still need to get harness made???

Axles might be an issue inless you can get one complete with axles. I've been told the stock 7AFE axles will work...but I don't think that's true. I will soon find out. But on my blacktop, the passenger side axle is a two-piece axle which is definitely not the same. Also you will have to figure in getting your exhaust to bolt up to the down pipe. The flange is different. Just a couple things to keep in mind.

wouldn't know what to tell you, I have never in my life swapped in a automatic 20v into a corolla. So can't help you with the mount situation.

The ECU is interconnected to the body harness also. And due to two completely different body styles. This is why it won't work. But, since you have both harness', it might not be as expensive to send both off to be modified. At least that's my plan for now
